“For as in one body, we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another.” Romans 12:4-5
This bible verse always comes to mind when preparing for a new school year. Saint Paul Catholic Parish and School is the body and everyone who works at, attends, or has invested in the parish and school community are the parts. Without all the smaller working parts, like the teachers, students, parents, parishioners, and the community, working towards a common mission, the body of the school would not continue to succeed like it has in the past several years. On Thursday, Saint Paul School will begin another academic year, educating 174 students from our community. This number is up from 147 last year and 109 the year before, and continues to grow each week with new parents inquiring about our mission and vision. A mission and vision based around glad and generous hearts. This year our 8th grade students will spend time each week at the St. Martin Center. Our 7th graders will be tutoring students in kindergarten, first and second grades. The 6th graders are in charge of helping the younger students in the cafeteria opening their food, heating up lunches, washing the tables, sweeping the floors and cleaning the kitchen. These are just a few examples of how our students will be learning through service and leadership. In order to provide our students with opportunities to spread God’s love through their glad and generous hearts, it takes many parts, and those many parts are you. I want to personally invite all of you to volunteer in our parish school. We are always in need of substitutes, office volunteers, recess helpers, and afterschool care tutors and supervisors. If you have a special talent, interest, or knowledge you would like to share with our students, we would love to have you talk at a school gathering or present to an individual class. There are no small parts and it is vital that all of our individual talents be a part of the body of our parish and school community. For more information on how you can share your time and talents with Saint Paul School, call the office at 765-662-2883 or email [email protected]. Lastly, thank you for all of your prayers and support for the Saint Paul students, staff, faculty, and most importantly, myself. Be brave for Christ, Mrs. Weimer, Saint Paul Catholic School Principal
