We are now on the Seventh Commandment in our series of pastor’s notes on the Ten Commandments, “Thou Shalt Not Steal.” Phrased positively, this commandment urges us to respect the belongings of others.
St. Paul Catholic School is pleased to announce the appointment of Veronica Weimer to the position of principal, effective July 1, 2020. Mrs. Weimer succeeds Ms. Becky Spitznagel, who will be leaving to pursue her doctorate and move closer to family.
St. Paul and Holy Family parishioners are excited to welcome Andrew Morand, a seminarian assigned to the parishes for the summer. Andrew arrived this past week. We are all anxious to get back to “normal”, at least as normal as we can since mid-March. We want to be able to receive the sacraments and attend Mass. While specifics are not yet available for how and when this will begin to evolve, we are starting to think ahead about our parish needs to make it happen. We anticipate needing people to clean the church between Masses, serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, minister as ushers assisting with seating and more than likely, other things we have not thought of yet. Those who have helped in the past may not be able to help going forward. No matter if you have served our parish in a role before or if you will be joining now, each of these will involve training as our processes will be different and may evolve as time progresses. Please consider sharing your time and talent with the parish to help us return to in-person Mass and sacraments. If you are willing to give of your time and talent, please call the Parish Office or email [email protected] and note if you are open to different roles or if a specific role is of interest.
We continue our series of pastor’s notes on the Ten Commandments. This installment focuses on the Sixth Commandment, “Thou Shalt not Commit Adultery.” Adultery bears no relation to the grotesque neologism given us by the past decade, adulting.
Each year, our parish community enjoys the opportunity to celebrate your success with you and your family at the Baccalaureate Mass. Unfortunately, that is not possible this year but your parish family still wants to celebrate you and your success. Each of you are asked to submit a senior photo to us as part of our plan to celebrate you. Please email your photo, including your name as you would want it announced, your high school and your plans after graduation, no later than May 18, 2020 to [email protected]. We hope that you will participate in helping us to continue the tradition of recognizing you and your success.
In 1712, a French priest wrote a book that contained an eerie prophecy. He wrote, “I clearly foresee that raging beasts will come in fury to tear to pieces with their diabolical teeth this little book...or they will cause it at least to lie hidden in the darkness and silence of a chest and so prevent it from seeing the light of day.” Saint Louis de Montfort wrote these lines about his book, True Devotion to Mary, When the saint died in 1716, the manuscript of this book lay locked away in a chest.
