Hello, my name is Jordan Boone and I will be the seminarian assigned to the parishes of Grant County this summer! I’m excited to be here since this was my first request for my summer assignment! I wanted to provide a little background information on myself to help you get to know me. I grew up in the farm town of Lapel in Madison County, near Anderson. We’re most known as a place people drive through and get ice cream; although we occasionally win basketball championships in true small-town Indiana fashion! I was raised as a Quaker and converted to the Catholic Church in 2008 following a football injury. Father Roberts was one of the four priests who taught the RCIA classes I attended at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel as I was preparing for baptism!
After graduating from high school, I worked in politics in Indiana and North Carolina to pay for college. I graduated from Ball State University after studying history, philosophy and sociology. I received a master’s degree in philosophy and religious studies through Mundelein Seminary in Chicago, where I’m receiving my priestly formation. I’ve completed three and a half years of seminary formation and have another four years ahead of me! My home parish is St. John Vianney in Fishers. I’m an avid reader of history books and classic novels. I enjoy exercise, kayaking and badminton. I’m always open to learning new hobbies, games, skills, etc.
I’m looking forward to my time here this summer and getting to know you all! You’ll see me around the parish and through the various ministries. But I’d also love to go out for coffee, meals, sports games or whatever to get to know the parish community better! Please keep me in your prayers and be assured of mine!
