Wow! This is the word I keep repeating whenever I recall the October 30 outdoor Mass and trunk-or-treat event. What a testimony to our parish family and to our local community. The turnout was more than Father Christopher and I could have imagined. Families from the parish, school and local community gathered to celebrate Mass and enjoy time of fellowship on a beautiful fall evening. I know that Father Christopher was watching over it all with a smile. His commitment to helping others become “Jesus people“ has not ended with his untimely passing. He is still with us as we move forward with hope for the future of our church, school , everyone within it and the community.

To that end, I am excited to share with you a new event, Trees of Hope - In Memory of Father Christopher. It is an online donation and auction event to support our students. More than 60 percent of students at St. Paul Catholic School need assistance from our local scholarship opportunities in order to afford a Catholic education at St. Paul. Trees of Hope will begin Sunday, November 29 and go through Sunday, December 6. It is comprised of two ways for you to participate, (1) vote for your favorite class tree by making a donation and (2) purchase a tree in the auction portion of the event. While this will be primarily a virtual event, plans are underway for an in-person open house to view the trees and spend time in fellowship. Donations of themed decorated artificial trees and wreaths will be accepted through November 24. More information is available at bidpal.net/treesofhope.

Father Christopher personally understood the value of a faith-based education and wanted it to be possible for all. As we remember Father Christopher, may we begin to feel the hope he had in that St. Paul Catholic School “exists to help its students develop the most important relationship in their lives – their relationship with Jesus Christ.” In the Fall 2018 alumni edition of the Trojan Tribune, Father Christopher shared “A Catholic education is among the most precious gifts that one can give a child.” You can give the gift of a Catholic education by being a part of this fundraising event. I am confident that he will be smiling over you as you give the gift of hope to a young child, hope for their future and hope for their relationship with Jesus Christ.

¡Guauu! Esta es la palabra que sigo repitiendo cada vez que recuerdo la misa al aire libre del 30 de Ooctubre y el evento de truco o trato. Qué testimonio para nuestra familia parroquial y nuestra comunidad local. La participación fue más de lo que el Padre Christopher y yo podríamos haber imaginado. Las familias de la parroquia, la escuela y la comunidad local se reunieron para celebrar la Misa y disfrutar de un tiempo de compañerismo en una hermosa noche de otoño. Sé que el Padre Christopher lo estaba observando todo con una sonrisa. Su compromiso de ayudar a otros a convertirse en “el pueblo de Jesús” no ha terminado con su muerte prematura. Con ese fin, me complace compartir con ustedes un nuevo evento, Árboles de Esperanza - En memoria del Padre Christopher. Es un evento de subasta y donación en línea para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes. Más del 60 por ciento de los estudiantes de Escuela Católica San Pablo necesitan ayuda de nuestras oportunidades de becas locales para poder pagar una educación católica en San Pablo. Árboles de Esperanza comenzará el Domingo 29 de Noviembre y terminará el Domingo 6 de Diciembre. Se compone de dos formas de participar, (1) votar por su árbol favorite de cada clase haciendo una donación y (2) comprar un árbol en el parte de la subasta del evento. Si bien este será principalmente un evento virtual, hay planes en marcha para una jornada de puertas abiertas en persona para ver los árboles y pasar tiempo en compañerismo. El Padre Christopher entendió personalmente el valor de una educación basada en la fe y quiso que fuera posible para todos. Al recordar al Padre Christopher, que podamos comenzar a sentir la esperanza que tenía en que la Escuela Católica San Pablo “existe para ayudar a sus estudiantes a desarrollar la relación más importante en sus vidas: su relación con Jesucristo”. En la edición de exalumnos de otoño de 2018 del Trojan Tribune, el Padre Christopher compartió: "La educación católica es uno de los regalos más preciados que se le puede dar a un niño". Puede dar el regalo de una educación Católica al ser parte de este evento de recaudación de fondos. Estoy seguro de que te sonreirá al darle el regalo de la esperanza a un niño pequeño, esperanza para su futuro y esperanza para su relación con Jesucristo.
