Although the school is located on the campus of Saint Paul, Holy Family parishioners who attend may do so at the parishioner rate.
The highlight of my involvement in the school is celebrating Mass with the students on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Most of the students attend Mass twice a week, which is double what I experienced in my eight years of Catholic school in Logansport! I also enjoy having the chance to teach from twenty to thirty minutes in every classroom on most Thursdays. Due to a crazy month before Christmas break, I had to suspend visits. I am happy to have resumed teaching in January. These classroom visits make me appreciate the work that our teachers do in helping to educate the children in the school. Another very important aspect of my involvment in the school has to do with administration. I meet with the principal usually twice a month to touch base on the state of the school and to provide support as I am able. I also attend the monthly school advisory board meetings where we discuss ways to clarify and advance the mission of Saint Paul School.
It is no secret that enrollment is down at Saint Paul School. Smaller numbers at Sunday Mass correspond to lower enrollment in the school. The most important way for us to raise enrollment at the school is to focus on inviting more youg families to Sunday Mass, and to Baptizing their children. My hope is, that we can increase enrollment enough, that per student costs are such that we could expand to the eighth grade (and find an arrangement for middle school sports).
